Paint, primer and powder coat absorb the beam and lift off as dust. Because the coating absorbs and the bare metal reflects, the process is selective. Turn it down and take the topcoat while leaving sound primer underneath. Turn it up and go all the way to clean metal.
There is no stripper to brush on, neutralise and dispose of, and no blast media to buy or sweep up afterwards. Nothing runs into a drain and nothing gets packed into seams and box sections.
We work on steel and aluminum. Vehicle and trailer panels, motorcycle frames and tanks, brackets and hardware, machinery, powder-coated steel and painted castings where the detail underneath matters.
Few Things To Know:
Thick multi-layer paint over large flat panels is slow work on a 300W machine. On a whole deck or a big flat side, blasting or chemical stripping is usually cheaper and we will tell you so before you book.
Coatings behave differently. Dark colours absorb the beam readily and come off quickly. Pale and metallic finishes reflect more and take longer, which affects the price. A photo lets us judge before quoting.
It is not suited to most plastics, fibreglass and composites. Those absorb the beam instead of reflecting it, so the substrate takes the heat rather than the coating.
