Soot and char sit on the surface of brick, stone, concrete and structural timber. The laser lifts that layer off and stops at the material underneath, so the original texture, the mortar lines and the grain of the wood are all still there when we are done.
Pressure washing drives soot deeper into porous material and soaks a building that is already damaged. Chemical cleaners mean fumes and runoff inside a structure people have to go back into. Laser cleaning uses no water and no chemicals at all, and the debris goes into an extractor rather than onto the floor.
We work on exposed brick and stone, chimneys and fireplaces, foundations, and structural timber and beams after a fire. Work is documented before and after so the record is there for your adjuster.
Few Things To Know:
Cleaning is not deodorising. Removing soot takes away a lot of what holds the smell, but smoke odour trapped in insulation, drywall and soft materials is a separate remediation job and needs a restoration contractor.
On heritage and soft substrates we test a hidden patch first and dial the machine down until it is right. Old lime mortar, soft brick and painted surfaces all behave differently, so nobody should be guessing on a visible wall.
Cleaning is not structural repair. Timber that has lost section to charring may still need an engineer to look at it and may need replacing. We clean it so it can be assessed properly, we do not tell you it is sound.
